OHIO SPACE GRANT CONSORTIUM
CAPSTONE PROJECT

Bring NASA-Inspired Engineering Into the Classroom The Ohio Space Grant Consortium Capstone Project gives students the opportunity to tackle hands-on engineering challenges inspired by research and technology development at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Each project was designed by a NASA educator and will be supported by NASA subject matter experts, giving students a chance to connect classroom learning with real-world aerospace engineering.

Three challenges. One goal:

Inspire the next generation of engineers.

Build the Rover. Design the Wheels. Take on the Challenge.

Build a prescribed rover chassis and design your own custom wheels. Use CAD and 3D printing applications to fabricate, test, and improve your designs in a simulated lunar environment.

Design the Power System. Manage the Mission.

Design and build a power system using solar and battery sources. Use a microprocessor to monitor power levels, automatically re-route power when needed, and shut down when both sources are low.

Design the Liner. Test the Pattern. Find the Solution.

Develop acoustic liners with different shapes and patterns. Use additive manufacturing to fabricate your designs and test them in a student-built acoustic impedance tube. Find the design that works best.
